Looking For Free Minimalist WordPress Themes? Here Are 20 Gems Handpicked For You
Though being a design addict, I have always loved the clean , typography based designs when it comes to blogging.
Because if you want your audience to get engaged with your writing, you need to have a design that highlights content rather than flashy widgets. Minimalist themes are just right fit for a content based blog.
During my journey of blogging, I have come across many minimal WordPress themes which are great and do a great job in highlighting content. I am using Coraline for planetnaveen.com with little customization done from my side.
In this article, I am providing links for 20 minimal (yet awesome) WordPress themes, so that you can kick start your blogging in 2012 with a clean and minimal design.

Hello Naveen Kulkarni,
Thanks you for your post, Hey internet,
I want to make a website. I don’t know much or anything about internet stuff, although I can manage a Tumblr or WordPress blog. I’m not completely inept.
But those blogs won’t let me keep a substantial portion of profits earned from advertisements, which I fully intend to get.
Keeping in mind my tech limitations, what template/blog/resource would you recommend for making a text heavy but generally minimalist (nothing too fancy, just articles and tabs for searching) would you recommend?
Thanks,
Me.
BTW great blogpost
Awesome Naveen!
I’ve used the CopyBlogger theme, and I think Coraline is named after a Neil Gaiman book/movie
Keep rockin’!

Hi Naveen,
I was using the Platform theme from Pagelines before getting a premium theme. It’s got a ton of features for being free but I actually won my current theme from a blogging contest.
I may switch themes again next year too because I like to change the appearance and functionality of my blog.

Hi Naveen,
I’m actually using Twenty-Ten and Twenty-Eleven on few of my sites. It’s nice clean and light template. Actually your blog theme looks awesome as well.

Twenty ten and twenty eleven have solid framework and I believe they are widely used because of their simplicity.
I use neoclassical theme on my blog and a twenty ten on my other blog Expert Blog Tips
Have a great week ahead.
