Lord Ganesha festival starts from September 11

In India and many parts of the world, Lord Ganesha festival is celebrated starting from September 11.

Lord Ganesha is widely worshipped god in India and worldwide. It is custom that before doing any important work, Ganesha should be worshipped and get blessed. Ganesha festival has its own history.

During the Ganesha festival, most of the houses bring Shree Ganesh Idols to their house and decorate the same and do a puja (worship) of the same. People keep the idols of Lord Ganesha for 1 day, 5 day and some for 11 days.

After this period, idol of Ganesha is immersed in water in a lake nearby.The whole atmosphere during this festival is holistic, musical and several celebrations and competetions would be held at the place of Ganesha idol.

Mumbai and Pune are the 2 cities where Ganesha festival is celebrated with full spirit , however other parts of India celebrate this festival as well.

By the time I write this short article, devotees of Lord Ganesha would have already started booking thier idols for the festival and I am sure the crowd at idol selling points is increasing day by day.

There are many types of Ganesha Idols and latest being Eco friendly idol.
